History of the College

Pioneer Dental College as the 1st Non-Government Dental College of Bangladesh was established in 1995. It was approved by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 20th April, 1995. In the year of 1996, the College was affiliated with Dhaka University, and recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM & DC). In the session of 1994-1995, our institution started it’s academic activities with the admission of 55 students. Presently, the College proudly declares successful graduation of more than 1400 Dental Surgeons.

It should be mentioned here that before and after liberation, Dentistry in Bangladesh was not up to the satisfactory level. Facilities and opportunities were beyond imagination. Founder Directors of Pioneer Dental College realized the real indigent scenario of Dentistry, and promised to upgrade the profession. They were bonded and established Pioneer Dental College as the 1st Private Dental College of Bangladesh.

All the success and achievement goes to Dr. Md. Raquibul Hossain Rumi, Dr. Kh. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Dr. Md. Jahangir Kabir, Md. Jamiul Hossain Jamir, Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, and Dr. A.K.M Morshed Alam who are the Founder Directors of Pioneer Dental College and Hospital.

College Overview

Pioneer Dental College as the 1st Non Govt. Dental College of Bangladesh was established in 1995. It took permission from the Govt. of Bangladesh on 20th April 1995. In the 1996 the College was affiliated with Dhaka University and in same year Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council recognized the college.
In session 1994-1995 Pioneer Dental College started it’s academic activities with the admission of 55 students. Presently the college proudly declares successful graduation of more than 1100 Dental Surgeons.

In each year of Dhaka University’s professional exam students of Pioneer Dental College are always in merit list with 1st, 2nd, & 3rd positions. Besides in Professional exam. of June 2009 Md. Arafat Kabir of session 2004-2005 stood 1st in Final Prof. Exam among all Non Govt. Dental Colleges & got total eight Hons in his graduation carrier.

Tahsin Raquib Abonti of session 2002-2003 graduated BDS in June 2007 and got 4 Hons including Hon. in General Academy in her graduation carrier. Mohammad Erfan Khondokar of session 2007-2008 passed final Professional BDS & stood 4th in February 2012 and achieved total six Hons in his carrier. The excellent Performance will be continued in coming days as the present students of total 1st,2nd, 3rd & Final years are performing excellent & brilliant results.

To encourage the students in the field of academic performance and after graduation they are employed as teachers in various Depts. of the College. They are also given scholarships. For better & real education a good no of eminent Professors of Medical & Dental Sciences are in Pioneer Dental College. Total number of teachers are adequate for better academic performance of the students.

After graduation, In-service training is compulsory and in this part of Professional carrier Pioneer Dental College has established a world class Dental Out-Door where the newly passed Dental graduates are trained under the direct supervision of department teachers.

In-service trainees are regularly paid monthly honorarium Nowadays Dental education & graduate Dental Surgeons are maintaining International level and as are sult of that a good number of Dental Surgeons qualified from Pioneer Dental Collegenow are in abroad for higher degrees like Ph.D, M.Sc and in Home in MS, FCPS, DDS, MPh. Dental Surgeons from Pioneer Dental College are in Govt. service through BCS. They are also in teaching in Govt. and Non Govt. Dental Colleges.
